Kuala Lumpur
The capital of Malaysia and is renowned for tall skyscrapers, the most famous of which is the Petronas towers. Here the differing mixes of architecture see colonial buildings situated opposite modern buildings. KL as it is known is also renowned for the cheapest shopping in Asia, making bargain hunting assured.
Malacca
The original capital of Malaysia for the Portuguese in the 17th century, it is possible to visit the original fort, the Baba Nonya museum and the reproduction tall and the Dutch state buildings that still survive today. Take a trishaw ride around the town or take a walk down Jonkers Street and bag an antique. Many choose to see the city as part of a tour from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.
