About the Algarve

In the past 30 years the village of Albufeira has grown at a rapid rate and today is one of the busiest and most popular beachside holiday destinations in Portugal. There are numerous shops, bars, restaurants and a good selection of nightlife to suit all tastes and requirements. The beaches are excellent for sunbathing and relaxing and it is possible to find a quiet retreat from the fast pace of this area.

The area incorporates the Ria Formosa nature park between Quinta de lago and Vale do Lobo. A beautiful sandy beach and easy access to the best golf courses in the Algarve ensure that you will enjoy the Vale de Garrao estate.

The village of Carvoeiro nestles between two hills, next to a cove sheltered on either side by low cliffs. This is a busy resort, especially in the summer months offering a large and varied selection of shops, bars, restaurants and night life. You can walk directly onto the beach from the village and this is an ideal location for combining a relaxing holiday with plenty of nightlife.

Vale do Lobo is situated near the town of Almancil. The resort has 2km long sandy beachfront and quality facilities. There are excellent sporting facilities including two 18 hole golf courses and the largest tennis academy in Portugal. There are a good range of boutique shops, a supermarket and a choice of restaurants.

The dramatic cliff top skyline contrasts with the quiet elegance of top hotels on the outskirts of the village and the intimacy of the narrow streets with its shops and tavernas. The beach is directly in front of the village and the cliffs to the west gently slope to the sea at the eastern end.

Quinta do Lago lies south of the local town of Almancil and just to the east of Vale do Lobo. Set in rolling hills and woodlands overlooking the picturesque estuary of the Formosa River. A number of top class golf courses are within a short distance and the beach is easily accessible across a footbridge over the Formosa river inlet.

The small fishing port of Alvor is situated 6kms west of Portimao and is now a popular holiday destination. Situated on the beach, Alvor has charming narrow streets with old world charm. Portimao is the largest town nearby and here some of the best shopping in the Algarve can be found along with numerous shops, bars and restaurants.
